Flatiron School began with a simple observation: the gap between what education delivers and what the market demands was growing — fast.
Founded in New York City, we started as an intensive coding bootcamp. The model worked: immersive, project-driven training that produced job-ready software engineers in months, not years. Thousands of graduates went on to build careers at companies from early-stage startups to the Fortune 100.
But we saw what was coming. AI reshaped engineering. Cybersecurity became existential. The half-life of technical skills compressed. A bootcamp that prepares you for one job is not enough when the job itself evolves quarterly.
So we rebuilt. Our work-integrated programs combine rigorous technical education with paid apprenticeships at employer partners. Students earn while they learn. They ship production code, not toy projects. They graduate with experience that compounds — not credentials that depreciate.
